The Historic Words Worksheet below asks pupils to link words relating to history and heritage to their meaning.

Guess the Word

Ask pupils to find out the meaning of a word associated with the past. Examples might include: Ancestors; Ancient; Clan; Historic; Inheritance; Legacy, Legend; Myth. Other words can also be used. Pupils can be asked to find out as much as they can about the meaning of the word they are given. They are then asked to describe the word to their class mates without saying the word itself and class mates are asked to guess the word.
