Shettleston: Our History 2
Learning Activities: WRITE
Your Local History
You are asked to do research to find out more about the heritage of your own local area. You may be able to find things online or in your local library. For example, where famous people lived, the site of old buildings, the site of buildings that are no longer there, where famous events happened, former methods of transport (such as trams).
This can be presented back in different ways: a written report, a poster, a PowerPoint presentation.
Letter From The Past (1)
Research the life of a well-known person from the past who used to live in your area. Write a letter from them to a friend telling the friend all about what is going on in their life: where they live, their family, their work, what they do in their spare time.
Letter From The Past (2)
Imagine you are one of the people in the “At Play in Shettleston” photograph in this pack. Write a letter from them to you, with them telling you all about what is going on in their life: what their home is like, what school life is like, what they do for fun.
