How to Create Strong Passwords

  • Length – the longer the passwords the harder it is for a hacker to break
  • Random words – safest password is 3 unrelated words eg fizzygreenunicorn
  • Characters – @ ! ” £ $ % ^ & * ( ) ; : ? # ~ the space bar also counts as a character
  • Use a password manager
  • Have different passwords for different accounts, especially online banking
  • Don’t use pet names, football teams, mother’s maiden name, street names, favourite food, film etc
  • Don’t share your password with anyone
  • If passwords are saved onto your phone, tablet or computer make sure you have some sort of screen lock eg 4 digit number
  • Not just adding a number 1 to the end of a password when it needs reset

The most common passwords in Glasgow are rangers and rangers123

Hi Paul, I have added two parts here: Internet safety and the Eatwell Guide.  Can you please seperate them for me.  Thanks

The internet

The internet can be a great resource for information, advice and support on mental health. It can also be a dangerous place if we are not careful.

Below is a quiz which helps identify and learn more about phishing:

Online Safety Phishing Quiz

This Jigsaw online phishing quiz is a great way to help recognise phishing, just click on the link below and it will take you to the quiz.  It does ask you to put in a name and a fake email address then you can begin.

Facilitator Notes and questions to determine understanding

  • Things to look out for are spelling mistakes, grammar errors, check the URL and hover over links as scammers will use ones that look very similar to the real thing
  • If you are unsure about a domain, you can use a search engine to find out more information
  • Do not click on a link if you don’t know who the sender is or if they are asking for personal information or money
  • If in doubt about a link or an email, email or contact the company directly and they will let you know if it is legitimate. You can find contact details on the company’s website
  • Some companies even have a site where you can email them the scam email you have gotten to help them up their security and locate scammers

Here are some questions you can ask your group:

Q1 – How did you find identifying the fraudulent emails? Easy/difficult?

Q2 – What things should you look for if you are suspicious of an email?

Q3- How could fraud affect your mental health?

Below is a resource which provides information and activities for healthier eating habits.

Eatwell Plate

Find out more about a balanced diet

**You will need an electronic device for this activity e.g. tablet, laptop or computer

** You can find a copy of the Eatwell Plate in resources

Activity

Play Interactive EatWell Guide Game – This is a fun way to use the Eatwell guide to help you get a better understanding of healthier and more sustainable foods.  It shows you how much of what you eat overall should come from each food group.

Find out more

Once you click on the site from the link below go straight to ‘Find out more about a balanced diet here first’.  Click on each group to find a breakdown of the foods in that group and information on portion sizes.

Interactive Game

Once you have read all the information in each group click on ‘Home’ then click ‘Get started’ which will take you straight to the game.  On the far right-hand side of the screen you will see different foods appear, the aim is to put the foods into the correct group.
